Live Instructor-Led The Role of Procurement in Combating Climate Change

Aims

This course is designed to show how procurement practices and procedures can have a fundamentally positive impact on the challenge of climate change. This will include the application of value analysis and value engineering methods and techniques. The course is designed to change the mindset about the use of resources and still deliver fit-for-purpose outcomes.

Target Audience

This “Live” instructor-led course is designed for all those who have direct or indirect responsibility for sustainable procurement and contracts. These will include public and private sector buyers, category managers, procurement officers, commissioners, contract managers, commercial managers and project managers.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the unique role of procurement in reducing waste, duplication and rework
  • Appreciate the importance of advising stakeholders to define sustainable and fit-for-purpose outcomes
  • Assisting stakeholders to avoid wasteful gold plating and unnecessary complexity
  • Avoid over-stocking and the resultant cost and waste
  • Understand the environmental “balance” between global sourcing and its carbon footprint and international specialisation advantages
  • Understand the critical role of stakeholder and supplier cooperation and collaboration to achieve reductions in waste and the carbon footprint
