Live Instructor-Led An Introduction to Tort Law and the Tort of Negligence

Aims

To enable participants to understand the aims of tort law and the types of harm for which it provides compensation. To understand the elements of a claim in negligence and the operation of the doctrine of precedent.

Target Audience

This “Live” instructor-led course is for those who have direct or indirect responsibility in relation to potential claims or actions for negligence in relation to business operations.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the concept of duty of care
  • Understand that contract law and tort are both areas of civil law
  • Understand that claimants will bring an action and must prove their case on the balance of probabilities
  • Appreciate the various remedies in tort actions
  • Appreciate that remedies are generally intended to compensate the claimant rather than to punish the defendant

Classroom Delivery

Virtual Delivery
