Aims
To provide participants with a practical overview of the applicable legal system related to commercial contracting. The course will cover topics such as contract clauses that cause supplier disputes. How to avoid the Battle of the Forms and why poor specifications create contract claims and variations. It will also cover when contract and commercial teams escalate up to legal. Participants will understand the general principles of UK contract law. The course will enable participants to understand and draft contract terms that are legally binding, whilst identifying key risks. It will enable those in procurement and contracting to understand the legalities of contracting and will reduce the pressure on in-house council and therefore prevent delays.
Target Audience
This live and instructor-led course is designed for all those who have direct or indirect responsibility for the performance of commercial contracts and need a working knowledge of contract law and legalities to ensure compliance. Those responsible for the review and drafting of commercial contracts, whilst understanding risks and liabilities. These will include procurement managers, commercial managers, contract managers, category managers, supplier and client relationship managers, bid managers, sales contract managers and public sector procurement teams.
